This was an excellent story of working through devastating tragedy and despair and finding forgiveness, faith, and a future beyond belief. I walked through all of this with Nadia, as I read the novel, but it was enlightening instead of depressing. Nadia and David are such complete characters, and the supporting cast is delightful. I had read GRACE FOR THE CHAR-BAKED by the same author, but NADIA'S HOPE is so much better. This is an outstanding example of Christian romance, and the Jewish heritage added an extra dimension to an already fascinating situation.Product details

Lisa Buffaloe writes from the depths of her soul and entwines the hearts of others in a most compassionate way. Forgiveness ~ both asking for and giving ~ love, relationships, heartache, trauma, God's faithfulness, hope it's all there in a very real and poignant way. Lisa treats a most traumatic experience with complete understanding and empathy.
This is a must-read story for women who have ever experienced personally, or may know someone who has suffered, a traumatic encounter that leaves unseen scars on the heart.
I give Nadia's Hope by Lisa Buffaloe a 5-star-rating. Its topic is of a sensitive nature, and Lisa approaches it with utmost compassion and understanding.
Review by Rita Kroon, author of "Kiss your Mommy Goodbye" and "Letters from the Past"
This is an excellent Christian romantic suspense--try it on for size! Way to go, Lisa Buffaloe!
Nadia Minsky wants to be invisible--guys frighten her, reminding her of an incident she'd much rather forget. The pain in her leg is an other unpleasant reminder.
She transferred from college in Israel to America to escape the memories, to feel safe, and to receive physical and psychological therapy. The physical therapy might be helping, but none of the other escapes are. She wakes screaming too many nights.
David Cohen seems to be different from the other guys--strong but gentle. Not crude or demanding. She would give him a chance, date him a little, as long as he didn't want anything more than friendship.
But he does, so Nadia decides to go home--to Israel. There she will see what is up with her brother and take care of some unfinished business. Maybe she needs to make justice happen herself.
Maybe you need to buy this book to find out for yourself.
There was so much about this remarkable book. It tenderly dealt with the healing of Nadia who went to the States from Israel. No one should ever have to go through what she endured before her rescue. David and becoming a Christian had a great impact on her life. That's how she went on with healing and making a new life.
If anyone needs healing from their past, this would be an excellent book.
I never write reviews, but I felt like this book really deserved one. Greatly enjoyable, this book was not a "light read" in that the content was compelling, deep, and inspiring. Go on a journey with Nadia as she struggles against God's love through deep pain and anguish, then rejoice with her as she finally finds peace. Excellent book . . . very different from most out there.
Nadia bears physical, emotional, and spiritual scars from a brutal rape; David breaks into her heart in an unexpected way, and together they learn to trust, to forgive the pains of their pasts, and love God and each other.
Best bits Solid story telling, and few typos (if any). After she was raped and stabbed, then abandoned by most of her friends, Nadia lives with fear and nightmares, and anger at God. It takes a supernatural gun malfunction to make her stop railing at God and start listening to the truth about Jesus. And then she must learn to face her fears about sharing her painful secrets with David. David is strongly attracted to Nadia before he ever meets her, and continues to love her through one shocking truth after another she's not a Christian, then she is, then the story of her rape, and her inability to bear children. He turns to God for each thing, and comes through strong. Good glimpses of Christian faith, although it did take a while to work around to specifying that yes, these people are Jewish, but they are also Christians, and the peace of God they talk about comes from Jesus. Not until Nadia is talking to her brother in Israel is Yeshua mentioned at all. But the second half of the book is very clear on how God helps us forgive and let go of anger over past hurts; how becoming Christian does not mean bad things will no longer happen, but that we have God's help to get through them; and that God is the only one able to heal us from deep emotional wounds.
Issues Mostly told from Nadia or David's POV, but early on there are also sections from Caleb's POV, before we know who Caleb is and what he's doing. I'm not convinced of the value of these scenes, as it mostly was confusing (is this guy after Nadia? after women? who did he beat up? oh, he's protecting women? what?) and distracted from the real story. Plus, that whole storyline just drops out after Nadia's trip to Israel, and we just get little hints that Caleb got the attackers arrested instead of killed, and that he may be on his way to God. Why start with his POV and then drop his story?
This was an excellent story of working through devastating tragedy and despair and finding forgiveness, faith, and a future beyond belief. I walked through all of this with Nadia, as I read the novel, but it was enlightening instead of depressing. Nadia and David are such complete characters, and the supporting cast is delightful.
